SolidWorks® software users can now purchase IPA Publish3d 24/7 on VARs' online store ACTON, Mass. - May 13, 2002 - Immersive Design, Inc., an industry leader in product communication, today announces that IPA Publish3d for SolidWorks is now available for sale on two of the largest SolidWorks value-added resellers' (VARs) web sites: GoEngineer (http://www.goengineer.com) and Computer-Aided Technology (http://www.cati.com). Immersive Design introduced IPA Publish3d for SolidWorks at this year's National Design and Engineering Show in Chicago where it was awarded the CADENCE Show Stopper Award as one of the top ten products at the show. IPA Publish3d is the first application focused on the generation and distribution of 3D interactive product documentation for SolidWorks. "Purchasing SolidWorks partner products online is a direction that we feel is beneficial to our customers,"says Computer Aided Technology's Vice President of Sales and Marketing Richard Werneth. "The ability for our customers to have access to a SolidWorks partner product like IPA Publish3d anytime, anywhere fits well with our customers' need and desire to design, build and document products in shorter and shorter periods of time." "Historically, MCAD applications and their partner products have been too difficult and expensive to be purchased online," says Ken Coburn, president of GoEngineer. "Immersive Design's IPA Publish3d for SolidWorks is a product that is well suited to be the first product sold through the GoEngineer web site." "Much of the value in product design data is locked up in the design engineering departments," says Gregory Smith, CEO of Immersive Design. "The value of the 3D data rarely finds its way outside of the engineering department due to the fact that few downstream applications exist. Just as companies now use 3D solid modeling applications to reduce production times and enhance the understanding of the designs, companies are now using the 3D data to generate online product documentation to reduce costs and improve a user's understanding of the product documents."
